ABOUT ME:
Hi, I’m Kristen Pedley Guttenplan, a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)- certified personal coach specializing in women’s fitness.
As my husband and I prepared for parenthood, I became curious about how fitness and nutrition should evolve during pregnancy and beyond. I thought, "If I want to know this, why not get certified so I can help others, too?" That decision proved invaluable, as many friends navigating the same transition had similar questions and concerns. Now, I’m passionate about guiding women through this journey with knowledge, confidence, and support.
Reasons I Encourage Movement During Pregnancy and Postpartum
Movement increases circulation and releases endorphins, helping reduce fatigue, stress, and mood swings. It supports mental health during a time of major change.
Regular movement helps reduce common discomforts like back pain, tight hips, and swelling. Strengthening key muscles also prepares the body for labor, delivery, and the physical demands of newborn care.
Safe exercise enhances stability, posture, and breathing mechanics—essentials for protecting the pelvic floor and promoting better recovery after birth.
Staying active during pregnancy (and returning to movement gradually postpartum) helps rebuild strength, restore mobility, and improve overall healing, making daily tasks feel more manageable.
